In the last post about Models of Time, I had introduced the concept of Time-line Rearrangement. In theory, it is possible to explain such a concept. However, how to explain it in terms of physical reality? It can be possible if we space coordinates are considered to be countries, paces, planets, universe etc. and each entity is considered to have their own time-line. If that is the case, then when an entity reaches a space coordinate, then an event occurs. For example, if we consider American continent to be a space coordinate and Amerigo Vespucia be the entity having its own time line, then on his arrival at America’s coast, the time line intersect with space line of America resulting in an event – event being discovery of America.

If one takes each coordinate of x-axis separately, then each will be parallel to y-axis i.e. until intersection, each line is independent. However, after intersection, its independence is not always maintained. Same is with the space-line. So, after intersection, it is the fate of these lines. If the lines intersect and then if one of the lines wears off then the event can be called as Terminal Event. In a way, Death is also a Terminal Event. With that I am wrapping up this post.

After Notes: Dreamz_unlimited and Idle Mind, thank you for your appreciation. Dreamz_unlimited, I hope this post was worth your wait. Idle Mind, the relative aspect of time is indeed fascinating. That topic will be covered in-depth in my future posts. In the mean time, do read and do comment.

Time is like an arrow; flow of time is like the path taken by an arrow – we have heard this many times and used it in many of our conversations. But have you contemplated for a moment why time is referred or compared with arrow? What are the attributes of arrow that makes it special to be compared with time? Why we never say spear of time? (Wheel is the only exception. I will come back to that later). From the perspective of Physics, there is very good reason to compare time with arrow. Those are the reasons that I will be discussing in this post.

Before going into theoritical level, I will tackle it at logical level. So, what is the image that comes to the mind when someone mentions an arrow? A projectile that travels straight unless it encounters an obstacle. In other words, an object that moves in a straight line in a certain direction. The direction never changes. So it is the non-changing directional movement that makes it different from other objects. How does time compares to this? Time is also non changing in its direction. It always moves forward. You cannot make time move backward (except in sci-fi’s). It doesn’t change the result of an experiment with set conditions and set environment, no matter how many time you perform it. Glass pitcher will always break when dropped. All these point to an entity that is moving in a particular direction without changing its course.

However, there is a bit of problem with this logic at fundamental level. The problem comes in the form of our mind. The most flexible and most conditionable aspect of human being – mind. Lets, for the moment, suppose that we are in a cage that rotates in such a way that sun always seems to raise from the west. And we have been born and brought up inside the cage. So what will we believe? We will believe that the Sun raise from the west and sets in the east. Unless oneĀ  is able to choose an observation point outside the cage, one wont be able discover the truth. Same is the case with time. The four dimentional universe, which we are in, is just like the cage. Unless we can find a way to observe from outside, we will never know whether time is actually running forward or is it just the conditioning of mind. With that I am closing this post.

Author Notes: Posts are becoming very sparse. I am in a process of rearranging my thoughts. Once that is done I will start posting regularly. In the mean time do read and comment.

In Dynamic Model or Dynamical Model of time, time is represented by means of graph. In this model, time is taken at x-axis and space is take at y-axis. Then a graph is plotted. Result is a curve. This curve is known as space-time curve. It is termed as space-time curve because space and time are inseparable. It or they exist as an amalgam known as time-space. In this context, if the value of x is taken to be a constant say a, then a straight line parallel to y-axis is obtained, which is termed as TIME-LINE.

So, taking time as a constant, time-line can be obtained. Similarly, a SPACE-LINE can also be obtained. If the two lines intersect at a point, then an event occurs. The sequence of events consist a curve called space-time curve. It is not necessary that the slope of the curve is constant or its slope always gives the same result. If next value is taken, then another space as well as time lines can be obtained. So a constant space value or time value is noot possible. That means, the curve is also variable which in turn implies, if the space and time line do not intersect, then event cannot occur. Secondly, if the intersection point is changed, the curve also changes. This is the basis of future-past relationship theory as well as time-line rearrangement theory. With this I am wrapping up the post.

Authors Notes: Sorry for not posting for so long. Personal matters interfered the logical thinking required for this blog. However, now I wont let that happen again. So till next time keep reading and do comment

Change – What is it? It has been debated inmany contexts. My context is time and energy. So when can you say a change has occured? Is it when there is transformation of energy from one form to another or is it when matter metamorphs from one physical form to another physical form? And where does time fits into all of this?

Here are my thoughts (not even opinion) on the questions. First of all, I feel change, time and energy are not just interconnect but are like synonyms. As you may remember, I had opined that God is energy. Now if we look at change, it is nothing but transformation of akind (maybe physical or more subliminal). One thing we can all agree is that for any change to occur, there requires a a threshhold of energy. So energy not only transforms itself but also abets and aids in physical transformation. From this we can deduce that change is nothing but tranformation of energy.

Now coming to time. How are Time and Change related? The answer to this question exists in the method of tracking the passage of time. We say time is moving either by the movement of hands of watch (transformation of electrical or mechanical energy) or by the movement of sun (transformation of geothermal and geo-chemical energy) etc. Here also it is the energy that is ‘puppeteer’. So one can infer from this that energy transforms bringing about changes and change forms the basis for tracking of time’s passage. Thats my thoughts. Awaiting yours.

Mercury -revolution time: 88 days
-time for sun’s rays to reach : about 2 mins
Earth – revolution period :365 and 1/4 days
-time for sun’s rays to reach: 8 minutes

The difference in rays’ travelling time is due to the distance between the start and the planet which brings us to the query – what can be the structure of space and how is time affected by it? There is also the question of the role played by gravity. Debates and conversions brought me to the conclusion that the common concept of time does not take into account many aspects that have come to light in the past 40-50 years. One of them is What propels a sub-atomic particle to change its spin instantaneously w.r.t its partner’s spin even if it is parsecs away. So I am more and more convinced that time is not just theoretical but a rule governing the universe. The only concession that can be given is that the way time is perceived now, also known as Model of Time may be carried over. However, not all the points of current Model can be taken in its face value. Based on this argument, I will say that there are four main Models of Time that explains different aspects of Time. They are:

1. Dynamic Model
2. Quantum Mechanical Model
3. Graph Based Model
4. Kinetic Model

In the Graphical Model, Time is represented as a function of Line. In Dynamic Model, Time is represented using Graph. If Time is thought of as energy then Quatum Mechanical and Kinetic Model can be used to explain it. From this post ownwards I will be discussing these Models and will try to combine them to form a complete Model. With that I will wrap up this post.

After Notes: Moin, Himali and AR, I am really thankful for your comments. Yes Moin, at a given point, two different universes can exist, if their frequencies are different. Himali, aage aage dekhiye hota hai kya. Thank you for your encouragement. AR, I will try to keep it up. The reason I started this blog was to get more ideas about Time in context of Physics. I am waiting for that. Till next time keep visiting and providing your valuable comments.

Spirits, ghosts, apparations whatever you call them, is a part of our daily staple for thought. There are various theories about them ranging from hallucination to them being ectoplasmic beings. However, not many have considered an alternative approach- approach based on dimensional theory. If you remember my last post, you will remember my theory about space being a 2-D entity with universe as structures within the same. Now let us take it a bit further. Any structure whether 2-D or 3-D cannot stop itself from vibrating. In other words, none of the structure, irrespective of shape and size, can be still. If there is vibration, that means there is frequency associated with that structure.

Having different frequencies can enable different structures to occupy same spot. This means at a given point in space there can exist, multiple universes without knowing existance of eachother. Now, for a small duration if any two of them approach same frequency, they will become apparent to eachother. Eventhough, they may pass through eachother due to difference in frequency. At such an instant, the organisms (like us) will see the reflection or a hazy image of the organisms of the other structure. These hazy image, depending upon the neighborhood of the approaching frequency, may interact with our universe. To be precise, my theory is stated thus "When universes occupy same plane at different frequencies, due to unknown reason or reasons, approach a frequency that is in the neighborhood of the natural frequency of the universes, the organisms of each universe sees an image of the other. The spirits and apparations are these images." In nutshell, ghosts are living being of other universes which interact with our universe at one or other point in time. With this I wrap up my post. Awaiting your comments and thoughts.

After Notes:Thanks to all for your valuable comments. Mrmister, if I am able to achieve that then I consider my efforts to be a success. So please do keep reading and providing your comments. Moin, as always thanks for visiting. I am still awaiting comments from some of my regular commentors. I hope to hear from you all soon. And belated Happy Deepawali to all.

In the structure that I had mentioned in the previous posts, I had put forth time as 4th Dimension. So, according to coordinate geometry, time becomes the 4th axis. But there is a problem with this scenario. In case of three axes, each axis is perpendicular to the other two axes. If a fourth axis is to be added, then it must be perpendicular to all other axes. That too in such a way that the 4th axis is not an extension of any other three. In Vector Algebra, such an axis is denoted by a parallelopipe which is difficult to represent.

In the light of these factors, how should one visualize the 4th dimension. One approach (the one which I feel is more plausible than others) is treating time not as an axis but as a diagonal. Does such an approach cancels out the structure? No, it does not. It strengthens the statement about time being intermittent with and in space. Space, as known by all, is a 3 dimensional structure. All the structures conceived until now needed only three dimensions. Be it a plane, cube, sphere or an hexagonal spheroid, there has not been a slightest need for a fourth axis. Therefore any of 3 dimensional structure can be a reference structure.

There are dimensional studies concerning n dimensions. However, any 3+ dimension is just theoretical. There lies a great difficulty in imagining 3+ dimensions, let alone visualizing them. So as the last post of the series on 4th dimension, what else can be more appropriate closing statement than the following

"To clear the obstructions of one’s imagination, intelligence must at first remove the smog of ‘old is gold’ theorem for particular cases. After such an operation, I am hopeful of visualizing dimensions in real sense."

After Notes: I once again all the readers and commentors for reading, reviewing and commenting. First answers to some queries. Khaki, according to the replicating universe theory, universe and hence space is limitless. I am happy that you asked the question. However, gravity plays its tricks. So it can happen that what we are conceiving as infinite can be a finite universe, with gravity bending light in such away that we feel universe is limitless. Thank you Samrat for your comments. I will be discussing Hawkins theories as well. Musica , welcome to my blogscape. Thank you for coming. Its good to see u too, Suhasini. Keep visiting and providing your valuable comments. And Himali dear, I can’t stop writing about time once I start. So, I will continue. With that I sign off this post. From the next post I will start with my ideas of how one can mathematically model time. Keep visiting and commenting.

NB: Sorry for delay in post. I had sprained my left hand.

In the last post I had asked a question – "Where was the singularity enthroned?" It is very difficult to visualize upon a point outside the space. There may be a possible answer in the theory that the multi-dimensional space may be a variable radied point on a single dimensional or double dimensioned scape. More or less like a sketch of a house in a paper where eventhough there is no depth, yet our eyes perceive the depth. Assume ABC to be such a two dimensional scape consisting of many spatial structures. Consider two such point structures. Extend one of the coordinate axis of each nearby considered structure. Then these extended axis will intersect at a point (refer to fig a).
 Fig a

This point of intersection or axion will act as a pathway to either of the structures. Such a scape and intersection can cause energy changes. These energy changes can give a glimpse into the way time may be working. With this I am wrapping up this post.

After Notes: Thanks to one and all who have read and commented. Moving onto questions. Babukris, I am a IT professional with interest in Physics. According to theory the model of space says it is limitless. However universe has limits. Beyond the universe, one theory says the same universe is replicated. I also believe in that Khaki. With these I sign off this post. Keep reading and visiting.

The structure discussed in previous post is one of the many approaches towards visualizing 4th Dimension. It may be or it may not be. The reason is that there is no way to prove it. However, it can clarify the change in everything, including our body. Hence, visualization of time is possible to an extend. It also proves that as such the three dimensions are inert. The time brings about change and different structures are formed.

This leads us to the next level of our quest. It is beyond doubt that space is basically founded on intermingled dimensions. But what about its situation? I mean to say "Is space an independent unit or is it a constituent of some super-dimensional ultra-spatial structure?" By physics there are five basic dimensions – Length, Breadth, Height represented by Length. Apart from it Mass and Time are the other two. So all in all five dimensions. Length, Mass and Time are the building blocks. All other dimensions are supplementary. But they are not beyond space. Hence, one can conclude that space is the ultimate super or ultra structure. This conclusion is accepted by almost all. All the theories about origin and fate of the universe is based on the assumption that space is all containing. Even parallel and alternate universes are also believed to be parts of this space. Yet one nagging query remains. At the time of Big Bang all the space was packed into singularity. So where was the singularity enthroned? With this question I am wrapping up this post.

After Notes: My sincere thanks to all the readers and your comments. Solaris, I feel successful if I have been able to do that. Himali thanks for the encouraging words. Hero thanks for visiting and your post on navaratri special is really special. Thanks Jyoti. Oyster I will try and I hope you will keep on visiting. mrmister, to borrow from a famous scientist, "I am like a child on a beach. Laughing with joy when I find a sand of different color on the endless beach". With that I sign off. Keep visiting and commenting. NB: Forgive me if the quote is a bit skewed.

Once the generalized view of Past, Present and Future has been discarded, the same question arises again What is time? Why is it so difficult to understand it? In my opinion the main hurdle is the inability to visualize the 4th Dimension w.r.t other three dimensions. The effect of time on matter is slow and gradual. If space is considered for visualization, we can create a model or assume its shape. But how about time. There can be a possible answer i.e. space is completely surrounded by time. Just as globe is surrounded by space. If this is the case, it will be difficult to estabilsh time’s existance.

This brings us to the next step of questioning. What is the relationship between space and time? Space is a three dimensional specimen. Hence space is dependent on dimensions. By this we can say that change in any dimension could change the structure of the space. Suppose, three dimensions form a space having structure of a cube.
Fig a

Fig b
Fig c

Let Fig a be the reference space. If any of the dimension’s distance from the origin is changed, or the direction of the orientation is changed, structure of space also changes. Now take a pt and join it to the origin. Taking this as a new dimension construct a structure(Fig c) resulting in a four dimensional structure which demolishes its reference structure (Fig a) in its totality. If this 4th dimension is capable of manoevering the orientation, distance etc of other dimensions, we get an ever changing space. This 4th dimension is Time.

After Notes: Thanks once again to all those who have commented. By the way this time comments have been less. I hope the problem is not with the posts. I was busy with training within the organization. I apologize for the delay in this post due to that. Please read and comment. This post is first in a series of my arguments about time as 4th dimension. Keep visiting.
